ESTABLISHED IN the 1920’s for employees of the local steelworks in Irlam. Links severed in 1979,and the clubhouse was given to members “in perpetuity” by British Steel Corporation and the  land is already owned by members, the membership in excess of 800 with a mix of male and female, retired, general ,and junior

Now a community based social club with many diversities .

Including outdoor sports such as junior football with 6  teams and 3 senior teams. Two senior cricket teams, 5 junior teams, receiving tuition from the cricket section’s qualified coaches on cricket facilities . Crown Green Bowling with 4 teams in the Eccles & Local League’s, there also  a Ladies Team and Veterans’s Teams.

There are all the usual Indoor games , Snooker , Darts, Domino’s all playing in local league’s.

Irlam Steel Recreation & Social Club is a club which holds the Cask Marque Award for serving great quality real ale
